Current information for students and prospective students; status July 2023

The name and profile characteristics of the study program have changed effective for the winter semester 2023/2024:

The previous name "Taxation Dual" was replaced by "Taxation 3in1".

This completes the accreditation process. This does not entail any changes to the proven concept and content of the program. The changes are valid for students who enrolled for the first time in the winter semester 2023/2024. For students who started their studies under the title "Taxation Dual", it will be ensured that the degree documents will be issued under the previous program title "Taxation Dual".

The contents of the website have been changed to the new title with immediate effect. The necessary adjustments to the examination regulations and other documents are in preparation.

Profile

The bachelor’s programme Taxation 3in1 links an academic degree in business administration with a vocational training as assistant tax adviser and professional practice. You can thus attain both qualifications in just nine semesters – much less time than it would usually take.

Our cooperation partners for this study programme are the Steuerberaterverband Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf association of tax advisers) and the vocational school Max-Weber-Berufskolleg Düsseldorf.

Vocational schooling at Max-Weber-Berufskolleg Düsseldorf to become an assistant tax adviser is integrated into the first five semesters. At the same time, you complete the practical vocational training in a tax consultancy. Passing the examination to become assistant tax adviser, you attain a professional qualification. The following four semesters combine professional practice in a tax consultancy with the HSD study programme.

During the vocational training, you acquire fundamental subject-specific expertise in the core areas of financial reporting, taxation and law. This reflects the typical link between theory and practice in a vocational training.

The core areas mentioned above are also key components of the academic studies in business administration. The study programme Taxation 3in1 focuses on attaining a comprehensive understanding of business contexts under special consideration of tax aspects. The specialisation mod-ules cover typical tax issues.

Practical projects and the bachelor’s thesis integrate professional practice into the study programme.

As a graduate, you are able to recognise, analyse and structure business decisions relating to taxation on a scientific basis. You are specialised in developing practice-oriented alternative actions and in decision-making. For the duration of the programme, you gain practical experience by working three days a week in a tax consultancy. Theoretical courses take place at the vocational school and at the university of applied sciences on the two remaining weekdays.

Please note: The language of instruction is mainly German.

* The study programme Taxation 3in1 is currently being assessed for re-accreditation, which is due to be confirmed by summer semester 2023.

The Faculty of Business Studies has already determined that future applicants must prove they have signed a contract for training as an assistant tax adviser (‘Steuerfachangestellte’) in the district of one of the chambers of tax advisers based in North Rhine-Westphalia. This means more flexibility for applicants compared to the previous regulations; they are no longer required to complete their vocational training in the district of the Düsseldorf chamber. This can now be taken into account when looking for a training place.

The new examination regulations (including a few content-related changes) will be issued at a later stage.

**The restricted admission is subject to approval by the Ministry for culture and academic affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKW).
